Construction of 1500m Long Irrigation Canal in Kapisa

The construction of an irrigation canal project is ongoing in Nejrab district of Kapisa province through the Community Support Program of CASA-1000 (CASA-CSP) under the umbrella of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD).

With a 60 percent physical progress, the 1500 meters long and 1.3 meter high irrigation canal project will be completed at a cost of nearly AFN 4,758,000 by the Community Development Council (CDC) under CASA-CSP to gain support of the people for the successful implementation of CASA-1000. The new canal will reduce water wastage, improve crops diversity and increase farmer’s incomes.

During the implementation of the project 684 labor days will be created for skilled labors and as well as 3197 labor days are expected to be created for unskilled labors.

The CASA-CSP is being implemented with support from the Afghanistan Reconstruction Trust Fund (ARTF) to implement electricity supply and other development projects in the corridor of influence of CASA-1000.
